Bumblewood Thicket 2026
September 10th - 27th
Bumblewood Thicket is back for the 7th Annual Fairy Village! It will only be visible to human eyes September 10th through 27th, so be sure to visit soon. Located amid the winding, wooded paths of Glen Lake Rotary Park on Bozeman's North Side, the village contains 21 new fairy homes and businesses created by talented local artists, aka Fairy Architects. Bumblewood Thicket is self-guided, free, and open to fairy fans of all ages.
Due to heavy rain in the forecast, the fairy village will be closed from 3:00pm on Friday, September 18th through Sunday morning, September 20th. Check back for updates.
Before you Fly In
- Bumblewood Thicket Fairy Village is located at Glen Lake Rotary Park.
- The parking lot is located off Manley Rd near the pavilions, and then a .1 mile walk is required to access the village. Follow the signs!
- It is free and open to the public from September 10th through 27th.
- You do not need tickets and we recommend giving yourself at least an hour to explore.
- The installation is outdoors and on a public (sometimes uneven) quarter-mile trail, so wear comfortable shoes.
- Please leash your pets! Dog markings are, ahem, not fun for the fairies.
- There are several benches along the trail if you need a break!
- Please note there are no bathrooms in the village, but there are public facilities at Glen Lake Rotary Park.
- Do not touch the installations, and watch out for any excited hands in your group. The fairies are shy and their homes are fragile!
- You may visit the village any time between 5am and 11pm. The village is illuminated every evening until 9pm, however the trails are not lit.
- Listen to the stories of Bumblewood! Scroll down for stories. Use of headphones is encouraged.

MEET THE MAKERS
September 21st 6:00-7:30pm
A rare chance to peek behind the magic veil and meet the (human) fairy architects! Makers of the fairy village homes and businesses will be present to answer questions both about their process and their fairy friends who live and work in their structures.
Visitors will also have a chance to meet the heads of the Bumblewood Zoning & Permitting Committee. These human/fairy liaisons can answer any and all questions about fairy village lore, stories, how one can become a fairy architect, and any other burning questions.
Spoiler Alert: Because this event includes very human details about how the fairy village is created, it is not suited for those who believe in fairies and only fairies.
The Legend of
Bumblewood Thicket Fairy Village:
Nestled in the foothills of the Bridger Mountains, hugging the rambling curves of the East Gallatin River, and tucked into a brambly patch of forest at Glen Lake Rotary Park, Bumblewood Thicket is an enchanted (and enchanting) fairy village in Bozeman, Montana. It is invisible to human eyes almost all the time. Luckily, in the golden glow of late summer, the spells are lifted and the fairies make their tiny town visible to human eyes for just a few weeks. We may never know why the fairies lift the spell, but we do know that the annual Bumblewood Thicket experience is a gift to our community. Visitors leave the village feeling reconnected with the world of magic, filled with wonder and whimsy, and with a sprinkle of pixie dust to carry them through the year.
