February 10th, 2024:

A Late Winter Celebration of Light, Color and Song.

Winter Bloom Lantern Parade illuminated the darkness with joy and light. The parade included hundreds of glowing lanterns created and carried by Gallatin Valley artists and community members, accompanied by singers from the Bozeman Symphonic Choir with members of the Greater Yellowstone Threshold Choir.

ABOUT THE LANTERNS

About the lanterns: The 2024 parade included more than 300 lanterns from many different places: community workshops and many creative families and individuals. In addition to the community created lanterns, the paraded feature special large scale lanterns created by local artists Thomas Dunning, Matt Cameron, Angela Yonke, Grace Washko, and Montana State University Art students. These artists received creative and technical support by professional lantern artist Gabs.

Inspiration

Lantern parades and festivals have a rich and ancient tradition from civilizations around the globe. We’ve been inspired recently by the Atlanta Beltline Parade (Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons), Iluminata (Fremont Arts Council), and Handmade Productions Uk who originated the “Winter Bloom” theme parade.

ABOUT THE MUSIC
