SUSAN RIGGS

Board Secretary of Spectacular Spectacles

Susan (also known as Suzy) is our board (but never bored) secretary. Growing up in New Jersey, she and a friend spent hours scouring the gutters and swales of nearby roads to collect pieces of metal and trash to create art, sculptures and wacky inventions. It was therefore inevitable that she would end up working with Random Acts of Silliness!

Susan has a unique ability to see things from all sides (including roadsides ; ) having worked with the public, private and non-profit sectors in Bozeman over the past 20 years. She started out working for the City of Bozeman before switching to the more creative world of urban design at Intrinsik Architecture. In 2017, she established GroundPrint to focus on supporting the community development branches of non-profits and cities. With a degree in Urban & Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia School of Architecture, Susan advocates for the Jeffersonian spirit of community and has served on the North 7th Urban Renewal Board and the Gallatin County Planning Board.

She lives with her wonderful husband, three fantastic kids and three sassy hens named Sunny Ray, Bob and Opal. In her spare time, Susan loves to run. She and her family love the inspiration that travel to both urban and natural places provides. Turns out, magical powers are a popular topic of conversation in Susan’s house. Her preferred magical power would be elemental control, specifically control of the weather. No cloudy days in Susan’s world!

I love the idea of bringing unexpected joy and art into people's everyday experiences.
