Spirit of Oaxaca

Spirit of Oaxaca

This clay cottage is the home and studio of Mies Artemisia, a weaver, basket maker and potter deeply inspired by her annual migrations to Mexico. While in Oaxaca each winter, Mies studies with local craftsfairies, learning natural dying and other techniques. She brings this knowledge back to Bumblewood where she spends the summers perfecting her skills and creating functional art for herself and others. Her dearest friend is fellow fiber artist and neighbor Olette. The two spend many happy hours over bubbling dye pots and looms while her daughter Willow plays with scraps of fabric.

Mariah Palmer

Mariah lives just outside of Bozeman in Kelly Canyon, with her daughter, husband, cat, dog and plenty of wildlife. She runs Local Earth Collective, an organization that builds community around art, craft, and activism. When out on adventures, Mariah and her daughter always look for existing fairy homes in mossy nooks and little caves in trees or rocks and love to build fairy houses from whatever materials they can find around them. You can find Mariah on instagram and on her website.
